About Company
TiVo Service Engineering is constantly seeking ways to make the TiVo service more scalable, more robust, and easier to deploy. Roles and Responsibility

Here is what you'll get do to:

 Join the Redshirts Support Engineers in being the first line of support that never gives in, unlike the famously anonymous redshirts nobody ever gets to know due to their “disappearing” tendencies;

 Understand how TiVo works and what it needs to keep it working. First of all, it needs you!

 Conduct investigations, deal with challenging escalations and drive them to resolution;

 Work with TiVo’s finest internal technical and operational teams and directly with MSO operations staff; You are not alone!

 Document your work. Do you remember all the things you have done in the past? Neither do we;

 Provide input to TiVo Product Management on bugs to be “squashed” in upcoming releases;

 Help us to be better by suggesting improvements to both internal and external-facing tools


Advantage if you have

 Experience with TiVo and/or Cable related Set Top Box products and how that integrates into a cable environment;

 Related experience working around DOCSIS/DSG, Cable Modems, DSLs or DVRs in a partner-facing, dynamic environment;

 Experience with Set Top Box hardware, audio/video synchronization, content streaming, Cable CARD, DVI, HDMI or HDCP, configuration (Apache, Tomcat, etc.), VOD Systems, skills in one or more scripting languages (Perl, Shell, PHP, etc.).

Desired Skills

            You know how your ISP delivers you service. If you don’t think SUBNET is a sandwich or MoCA keeps you awake at night, you’re on the right track;

 Web services knowledge. It rhymes with Provisioning. Prove to us it does;

 Experience with ITIL or other structured service management framework preferred;

 Proficiency in solving problems on your own but not afraid to ask for help as well as a bachelor degree in  “geeky” language;

 Self-motivation with the ability to learn new technical information quickly and work with various departments across the organization.

 Strong communication & interpersonal skills to engage with both internal technical teams and external customers. We value people who communicate all the time, every time and with everybody involved.

 Flexibility. Sometimes we will want to talk to you. Although we’re close to you, some of us are not near you and have traveled back 10 hours in time, US time. Unless you’re Dr. Who, we will require to adjust the schedule.
